HOT COCOA TOPPERS

Making your own hot cocoa toppers turns an ordinary mug into a little holiday moment. Decorate a batch together, pop them in the freezer, and you’ll have an easy way to make future cocoa nights feel extra special all season long.

MAKE NOW, FREEZE FOR LATER

HOW TO MAKE HOT COCOA TOPPERS

This works best when everything is cold and you move fairly quickly. Think of it like decorating little whipped cream clouds before popping them into the freezer to set.

PIPE THE WHIPPED CREAM

Chill your cupcake pan first so the whipped cream stays firm. Pipe or spoon whipped cream into each cup, making a thick round topper that will hold decorations once frozen.

DECORATE QUICKLY

Before the whipped cream softens, add sprinkles, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy corn, pretzels, or other festive toppings. Keep it simple and let everyone make theirs a little different.

FREEZE UNTIL FIRM

Freeze the toppers until completely set, then gently remove them from the pan. Float one on a mug of warm hot cocoa, and move any extras to an airtight container to keep frozen for later.

BUILD A SNOWMAN FACE

For a simple snowman topper, use two chocolate chips for eyes, one candy corn for the nose, and a few more chocolate chips for the smile. If you want to make it extra cute, add two pretzel rods for arms and let the whipped cream become the snowman’s fluffy body.

SAVE THE EXTRAS

Once the toppers are frozen solid, transfer the extras to an airtight container or freezer bag and keep them in the freezer for future hot chocolate moments this holiday. It’s a fun little make-ahead treat that turns an ordinary mug of cocoa into something festive in seconds.
